I am absolutely in love with these things. They chirp like geckos when handled, the male sings like a 'creaking door', they have something like parent care, they play dead, and they look like prehistoric crocodilians! They're Tribs, or Red-eyed Croc Skinks, an awesome skink species from New Guinea. My friend Amanda let me take her pair outside for a few quick photos:

Hello, I;m a reptile collector in H.K. Two weeks ago, I got five Tribolonotus gracilis from my friend. But after reading your post, I'm still really confuse how to define the sexual of them. Is there any clear sexual features to define their sexual?
What big eyes. Very interesting animal there. I have never heard of them before.

ReplyDeleteWow, cool. They look like cartoon characters.

ReplyDeleteNice! Do you breed with them?
ReplyDeleteI have both species of crocodile skinks at the moment.
Amanda has gotten one hatchling from them, and is hoping for more.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean by both species? There are eight or so Tribolonotus species.
I love these little guys myself. They are number one on my list of critters. I wonder what region this pair is from?
ReplyDeleteWhich region of New Guinea?
