A duck hunter's find

Any guesses?

I was talking to a herper friend in California, who informed me that his brother had shot what he thought was a European Wigeon while duck hunting. Well, send me the photos I said, and here they are. Definitely a Eurowigeon, molting out of eclipse plumage - note the brown feathers still in the body plumage, and the lack of the normal red w/ cream head pattern. Isn't it ironic when duck hunters shoot the one rarity among N common ducks? A very similar thing happened to Jim with a Ross's Goose. Photos by Danny Lee, with credit to Winter Lee for the bird.
